A Nixa motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle accident 7:11 p.m. Tuesday on AB Highway in Willard.
According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2008 Yamaha YZFR600 motorcycle driven by Kurtis L. Casteel, 25, Nixa, was traveling at an excessive rate of speed. A 2014 Ford Explorer driven by Bobby E. Stroup, 46, Willard, attempted a left turn and the Casteel motorcycle skidded into the northbound lane, striking the Stroup vehicle.
Casteel was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, at 7:49 pm. by Dr. Kenneth Larson.
The fatality was the 96th this year for Highway Patrol Troop D.
KY3 reports Casteel was driving a stolen motorcycle.
